It is strange that in the 21st century so many prejudices persist regarding pedicure and foot care. Women, and even more so men, are often shy about going to the salon. Many try to trim their nails and cut their heels at home. So that they are not ashamed in front of the master. And they also ask you to steam your legs, because they are afraid of the smell. It turns out that professionals advise not to do all this and generally treat pedicures easier. The nail industry is so popular nowadays. So you can just go to the salon and use any service you want, starting from nail service and nail care to make them beautiful using gellac.

Here we have prepared the 13 most burning tips and rules about pedicure. We are sure they will help make this procedure much less stressful.

1 Take good care of your feet
2 Do a pedicure every 2-3 weeks.
3 Buy a good foot cream!
4 Don’t let your skin get rough.
5 Control sweating.
6 Wear beach shoes.

Take good care of your feet

Many people have problems with dry calluses, cracked heels, and corns. And the blame for this, first of all, is the increased load on the feet (for example, due to being overweight or staying on the legs for a long time), uncomfortable shoes (especially often podologists “blame” narrow model shoes) and lack of proper care. Even the oldest calluses can be eradicated thanks to modern medicine’s numerous options (for example, with a laser). However, it is easier to prevent their appearance by observing the following rules for foot care in the summer.

Do a pedicure every 2-3 weeks.

A systematic pedicure is not only hygienic and aesthetic. But also a preventive procedure that allows you to avoid many problems. Moreover, with “problem feet”, a hardware pedicure will be the most effective. Due to the fact that it uses different cutter attachments for removing cuticles, grinding nails, grinding, skin treatment, thanks to a hardware pedicure.  You can achieve an almost perfect condition of the feet, correct the irregular shape of the nails and forget about such troubles as corns, cracks, calluses and ingrown nails. True, patience is required, especially when treating corn with a rod. The conventional edged pedicure, on the other hand, frequently produces excessive epidermal and cuticle growth.

Buy a good foot cream!

And use it daily! It is best if it contains vegetable oils that have a strong nourishing and regenerating effect. And softening components (allantoin, bisabolol, panthenol). If, due to walking barefoot or just wearing open shoes, the skin of the feet dries out, choose creams with intensely moisturizing and moisture-retaining ingredients (urea, glycerin, lecithin, aloe extract, collagen, etc.) for summer foot care.

Don’t let your skin get rough.

If a few days after a pedicure, the heels look like they did a couple of months ago, foot scrubs (exfoliate the skin 2-3 times a week) and salicylic acid creams (use them daily) will help. Salicylic acid prevents the overproduction of keratin, the main culprit in the fact that the skin of the feet becomes rough and its upper layer thickens. Make a warm foot bath before using the cream for the greatest results (in order to soften the skin, in addition to the cosmetic product for foot baths, it is good to add a tablespoon of soda to the water). Such procedures will also be a good prevention of cracked heels (emollient creams or an old proven remedy – castor oil, which need to be lubricated with heels instead of a cream, will also help get rid of them).

Control sweating.

With increased sweating, talcum powder, a cream with a deodorizing effect or a special deodorant are useful for foot care in the summer. The key need is that all of these items be used on clean, dry skin. Many modern deodorant foot products do not contain aluminum salts, which constrict or even clog the sweat glands. But antibacterial components that prevent the growth of sweat-causing bacteria (farnesol or triclosan) and ingredients that gently regulate perspiration, such as alum. Essential oils (for example, lavender, bergamot, lemon, rosemary) and plant extracts (especially sage, willow or oak bark, mint, string). Extracts and oils, by the way, are excellent additions to foot baths. Simply purchase a herbal collection at the pharmacy and steep 1-2 tablespoons in a water bath or boiling water for 30-40 minutes beneath the lid before adding to the water for a foot bath.

Wear beach shoes.

If you decide to walk on hot sand or pebbles barefoot, you may not get a burn on your feet, but your skin will suffer anyway. So, if you want to run barefoot, it’s best to do so on a grass.
