You may be wondering how the whole pregnancy would go? So, this write-up will brighten your imagination and will get you an idea of what’s up with your baby inside from the first day to the 40th week.

The days of pregnancy are counted from the very first day of your last menstrual cycle. So, the standard length of the pregnancy is around 40 weeks, though the baby resides for about 38 weeks inside. Pregnancy has three trimesters.

  • First trimester: From conception – the 12th week
  • Second trimester: 13th week – 27th week
  • Third trimester: 28th week – lasts until its birth

A full-term pregnancy is considered when it completes 40 weeks. However, if the baby is delivered before the 37th week, then it will be considered in the category of a premature baby. They are born with lots of complications such as incomplete growth, being underweight, and difficulty in respiration and digestion. Do you know? The gender and inherited characteristics are determined from the moment the egg is fertilized by the man’s sperm. A fetal undergoes a plethora of changes till birth, know how it goes.

First Trimester: (Week 1 – Week 12)

The journey begins here, you may not come to know about the pregnancy in the first or second week even after some time. However, your body experiences many changes, especially your hormones starting to change and affect nearly your entire body which triggers the symptoms in the first week. A missed period and a stopped period is clearly a sign of pregnancy. This sign can be misleading if you experience irregular periods.First Trimester

Apart from that there are some other symptoms of pregnancy such as fatigue, sore breast, morning sickness, food aversions or food cravings, fluctuating mood, increased frequency to pee, headache, constipation, heartburn, and sudden change in weight.

Once your pregnancy is confirmed, you have to make necessary changes in your lifestyle such as eating healthy, small and frequent meals, going to bed early, staying physically active etc. with the passing time, gradually and slowly, you will become accustomed with these things. Everything will seem different to you, if you are pregnant.

Baby’s growth during the first trimester: egg becomes an embryo and embryo becomes a fetus till the first trimester. It weighs around 1 ounce with a height 3-4 inch. During the first trimester, the heart, brain, spine, digestive system, circulatory system, eyes, ears, and tiny limb buds start to form. Besides these, the heart of a baby starts to beat around 6th -7th week.

Second Trimester: (Week 13 – Week 27)

Maybe the second trimester sounds difficult to you but a good many women say that the second trimester of pregnancy is easier to deal with than the first one. No matter what, just enlighten yourself at every stage with all the important things that you need to know during pregnancy.

Every trimester, every month will bring some new symptoms, so is the second trimester. You will notice the growth of the baby as your belly will grow bigger and bigger. With the increasing week, you may feel the movement of the baby inside.

You will experience symptoms pretty different from the first trimester as growing a baby will make your belly its comfortable place. You will notice, body pain, change in nipple around nipples, stretch marks, hair growth from belly button to pubic, dark patches on skin, itching on some parts of body, little swelling, numbness in hands.

Stay alert and call our doctor, in case you experience any serious appetite loss, vomiting, jaundice, fatigue while itching as there are pretty much signs of liver problems. Apart from that, extreme swelling, sudden change in weight are also not good signs and mostly indicate preeclampsia. So, seek immediate medical attention. On top of everything, don’t miss any test or appointment with the doctor during pregnancy as regular checkups will help you know about you and your baby’s condition.

Baby’s growth during the second trimester: before the end of the second trimester, you will notice drastic change in the weight and height of the baby, around 2 to 3 pounds with height 14-16 inches. The baby’s limbs get well-defined, bones and teeth become denser, eyes start to develop including eyebrows, eyelashes, eyelids etc. and also hair starts to grow. By the end of the second trimester, the baby starts to make various types of movements such as yawning, stretching and can suck its thumb as well.

Third trimester: (Week 28 – Week 40)

The same discomforts in the second trimester will become even tougher in the third trimester. The most common thing is you will face difficulties while breathing at this stage. As the baby will grow bigger and pressure your organs, you will get trouble in making moves. Trust me, when you think that a tiny soul is in your belly, all your pain and problems will be automatically reduced.

Third trimester will bring new symptoms and changes in your body such as difficulty in movements, trouble while sleeping, sore breast may leak a watery pre-milk colostrum, breathing difficulties, swelling in hands, legs, feet, heartburn, contractions, hemorrhoids, and baby’s movement to lower in your abdomen.

As the time is approaching, your vagina will widen during the birth process and your cervix will become thinner and flexible. On these days that means closer to your due date, visit the doctor regularly so he can perform ultrasounds and vagina exams to check the progress.

During your pregnancy days, if you find anything unusual then seek medical attention, because this is the time when you need extra and special medical support. Get regular checkup, ultrasounds, and vaginal exams, throughout your pregnancy days.

So, time is approaching fast, the countdown has begun! Sooner the tiny soul inside your belly will be in your arms. Get set go!
