Manali is a Himalayan resort town in India’s north. It is also known as a backpacking center and one of India’s favorite honeymoon places for all the love birds out there. There are heaps of places that one can roam around and many activities to indulge in. You can go to this place as a weekend getaway or just plan a trip with your family or partner. It is the perfect amalgamation of love , adventure , spirituality and many more.
You can visit Manali any time of the year but anytime in between April to June would be ideal to explore and make the most of it. However if you want to see the snow filled Manali and visit the festival , travel anywhere in between December to February.
The routes that one can take to reach mesmerizing Manali would be –
- By air – The nearest airport is Bhuntar which is around 50 kms away from the main city of Manali. So you could start your trip from there.
- By bus or train – Manali is not only a hub to tourists but is well connected to many other must visit places such as Leh Ladakh , Shimla , Dharamshala. So there is a good number of buses and trains you can take to reach your preferred destination but be aware that this could take longer than air.

Take a trip to the waterfalls nearby –
One of the best things to do is to enjoy the waterfalls there and embrace the small things about nature. There are many falls like Jogini Falls , Zana Falls. The refreshing experience you get from this is immense. This can be a romantic getaway and a beautiful spot for your next Instagram pictures and many more.
A splash of spirituality –
It will surprise you to know that Manali holds some of the most well known spiritual abodes including Manu Temple , Hadimba Devi Temple and also many archaic monasteries on the way or around Manali’s vicinity. There is the famous Vashisht Hot Water Spring and temple that dates back to centuries and unveils an ancient story. It is also claimed to have healing powers. Other temples you might want to pay a visit to are Raghunath Temple and Gauri Shankar Temple.
Paragliding in Manali –
This is the most famous outdoor adventurous activity around Manali. There are heaps of places you can do this in , but to make the most of your experience head over to Solang Valley. Solang Valley offers the most awe – inspiring views and takes you to the land of our dreams. The cost could be around INR 2000-5000 depending on the distance , time and location you do it in. 20 minutes of soaring around the sky like a bird will really change you!
Manali Wildlife Sanctuary –
This could be a subjective experience and a place to visit for most of the people. If you’re someone who is a fanatic about wildlife and seeing the raw beauty of God’s creation head over here! The entry ticket is INR 10 and you can do birdwatching , see some rare creatures such as herds of ibex , snow leopards and koklas. The best thing to do here , however, would be to ride a yak! It is something that you only find at Manali and nowhere else.
Go shopping –
We all love the trip but what everyone loves more than that is finally going back home and reminiscing it all over again with friends and family. Bringing back home your family gifts is another way of telling them how much you love them and I am going to tell you the right place to shop for some local items here in Manali. Mall Road is an entire street just for shopaholics! There’s also a Manu market that sells many handloom products , accessories , clothes and other locally made merchandise.

Around the months of December and January , Manali holds the famous winter carnival which is an absolute burst of festivity and fun. Every year , the pahadis come around and welcome a new start with their vibrancy. All the streets are filled with snow , dance and other entertaining performances , delicious local food and many other activities , sports to indulge in.
