Managing diabetes is difficult, but in no ways is it impossible. Scientists worldwide are working round the clock to come up with other options and medicine that could reverse the condition without any side effects.

Ayurveda calls attention to diabetes as Madhumey, and as part of its treatment, Ayurveda too suggests avoiding excess intake of sweets and simple carbohydrates. It imperatively includes more green and leafy vegetables. Many bitter and healthy herbs like aloe vera are also instrumental in managing diabetes.

Ayurveda consists of 3 fundamental doshas called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and good health is considered to be a perfect state of balance between these three doshas. In addition, Ayurveda explains diabetes development as a result of the diminished functioning of Agni, which is a digestive fire, which may trigger high blood sugar levels.   • Drinking-Water in Copper Vessel, Since time immemorial, drinking water from the copper vessel has been considered very healthy for the overall functioning of the body. According to Lad, “reviving this practice might help prevent fluctuation of blood sugar levels.” The water kept overnight in a copper vessel is called Tamra Jal, and it helps in balancing all three doshas. Put 1 cup of water into a copper vessel at night and drink in the morning.

Methi For Treatment Of Diabetes 

Ayurvedic experts, people with diabetes should have a stock of fenugreek seeds or methi dana in their households. One can consume methi dana sprouts or drink methi water in the morning.

Bitter is better- In addition to abstaining from sweets, loading up on bitter ingredients like hemp seeds, bitter gourd, aloe vera, and amla have also been found effective in managing and controlling diabetes.

Vata Dosha And Kapha Dosha 

According to Ayurveda, every ailment in Ayurveda are due to some imbalance in an individual’s doshas. For example, type 1 is diabetes insipidus is described as an imbalance of the Vata in the air, and Type 2 that is diabetes mellitus, is an excess of the Kapha (water and earth) dosha. Therefore, eating organized meals that contain less fatty foods thrice a day is essential. Try to avoid dairy products and opt for skimmed milk and low-fat yogurt. Tea with ginger helps stimulate digestion, which is very beneficial in reducing the excess Kapha in your body system.

There are many spices available to us that have shown anti-diabetic properties. For example, asafoetida, turmeric, cinnamon, coriander, and mustard, used in your meals, drinks, and manage diabetes naturally. Bay Leaf is amongst the ayurvedic home remedies for both kinds of diabetic patients. Take a mix of bay leaf, aloe vera gel, and turmeric before meals to manage fluctuation in sugar levels.

Uses Of Some Fruits And Vegetables Manage Diabetes

Bengal Gram– Bengal gram is great food with a great amount of glucose intolerance. It is suggested to non-diabetics to reduce the risk of diabetes. Bengal gram is also beneficial for chronic diabetes.

Bitter melon– Bitter melon has some properties that have been shown to reduce diabetes effects. It is also beneficial for other chronic diseases.

Indian gooseberry-Indian gooseberry or amla helps in regulating carbohydrate absorption. Moreover, chromium present in it helps in insulin sensitivity. One can eat it raw or mix it with gooseberry and bitter gourd to stimulate the pancreatic cells and reduce blood sugar levels.

Jamun– Regular use of Jamun is highly recommended for diabetics due to its benefits in regulating insulin and increasing insulin production. Chewing Jamun leaves a few times a day throughout day can show positive results in diabetes.

Mango leaves– Mango leaves are a significant source of nutrients. You can take it along with a glass of water and leave it overnight and drink it in the morning. Alternatively, you can dry the leaves and mix them with water to consume in the morning.

Diabetes, if not managed properly, is a progressive condition. While it is essential to do your research for herbal and Ayurveda recommendations and consult a doctor and diabetes educator, there are ayurvedic tablets that can be consumed alongside your regular medication.
